It's cold! Get outside!
Updated: Apr 26, 2020
Happy New Year!
This winter has started off quite chilly. Even though it has been in the "nose hair freezing" temps we can't stay locked in our warm houses all winter. I firmly believe that the only way to combat the cold is to go out and explore in it.
Of course its important to remember to dress appropriately for the activities you are planning to do. Layer up and get out there. Even if its for a short walk. Get outside and enjoy the changes winter brings to our state. The quiet beauty is there for us to see and explore.

Here's some ideas for you:
Walk through you neighborhood - Simply put your boots, coat and mittens on and walk around your neighborhood. Stop and observe the changes the snow brings to an area you know well
Snow shoe - Snow shoeing is a great first adventure for those looking to explore in the winter. It's just like walking. It allows you to go into areas that aren't so well traveled without worrying about making your walk into more of a death march. If you are in the midcoast area here are some easier snow shoeing ideas for you
Harpswell Hiking Trails - Cliff Trail and Devil's Backbone
Brunswick Town Commons - Flat trails that are great for getting use to walking in snow shoes.
Bradbury Mountain (Pownal) - This is a great area for improving your snow shoeing abilities. Easy to difficult trails with lots of different trails to take.
Cross Country Skiing - Get exercise with the ability to cover lots of ground. For those who just can't sit still or are winter training for some other summer time activities, this is a great cross training activity.
